What is Refirme Skin Tightening
Refirme Skin Tightening is a procedure for skin tightening that uses infrared light and RF energy to target wrinkled skin and combat skin laxity. Based on the elōs technology, Refirme Skin Tightening uses electro-optical synergy to tighten skin and increase the collagen in the dermal layer. It can be used to tighten skin on various areas of the face, including saggy brow lines, nasolabial folds, and neck, but it has proven to be very effective against the loose skin of the upper arms and inner thighs too.
Combing bi-polar radio frequency with laser energy, the procedure heats the deep layers of your skin and stimulates collagen production. Due to significant collagen growth, the skin appears smoother, healthier, and youthful. The treatment is effective against fine lines and superficial wrinkles, improving skin health and combating the signs of aging.
The procedure is non-invasive and non-surgical. Because it is based on radio frequency energy and infrared light, it can be performed safely with minimum side effects on almost anyone who wants to rejuvenate their skin. What to expect during the procedure?
Before the procedure starts, you will receive eye protection to protect you from the laser light. We will then apply a gel to the treatment area where we will deliver the laser’s pulsed light. During the treatment, you will be exposed to cool air provided by a cooling machine to minimize any discomfort.
We use a skin tightening applicator to deliver the heating to the dermis and contract the existing collagen fibers. However, before moving on with the procedure, we will first make the necessary frequency and cooling temperature adjustments based on a few test spots that allow us to monitor how your skin reacts to the pulse.
You will feel light pressure and heat from the device but, due to the cooling machine, the contacts on the applicator will be cooled and there will be no pain. We will move the applicator on the targeted treatment area allowing the pulses to cover the entire surface. When the procedure ends, you may feel your skin warm to the touch, but this is a natural consequence, and additional cooling will help minimize any discomfort.
Aftercare
Refirme Skin Tightening requires no downtime and allows the patient to go about their day as soon as they leave our office. Slight redness and swelling are to be expected in the treated area, but they shouldn’t last more than 2 to 3 days. While treatment intensive skin tightening procedures are known to have serious side effects and can be painful, Refirme Skin Treatment is well-tolerated, and no cases of severe pain have been reported. In case of discomfort, we recommend applying cold packs on the treated area for 10-15 minutes every hour for several hours after the procedure.
In the following days, your skincare regimen should include sunscreen protection. No sun exposure, scrubbing, exfoliants, or cosmetic products are to be used if the treated area continues to exhibit redness or swelling. We also recommend our patients avoid swimming pools and hot tubs for a few days.
For Refirme Skin Tightening to achieve its potential, you need to have a series of 3 to 5 treatment sessions every 4 weeks. Since the effects of Refirme Skin Tightening are not permanent, you should consider scheduling one maintenance treatment every six months. The good news is that you will start noticing improvements in your skin quality and wrinkle reduction throughout the treatment cycle.
